The Hippie's game pick: Fire Emblem Shadows of Valentia

Hiya! Salutations everybody I hope your week has been excellent. Mine has been pretty good it was a lot more calm work-wise so I was able to get more personal stuff done. I've been training for a marathon I'm undertaking in July so that has been fun. Today I want to highlight a Video-game that I recently got which I believe is awesome. The game I would like to highlight is Fire Emblem: Shadows of Valentia.

This game is a remake of the second Fire Emblem game. It follows the story of two protagonists Alm and Celica and their quests and differing viewpoints of how to save their land. While this game is a remake it is not a simple rehash of its earlier incarnation. It has its own unique and new features to show-off. Besides new characters and story plots, which I will not spoil by going into detail, one new feature this game has is dungeons. Dungeons are new to the Fire Emblem universe and allow you to pilot your character and explore a specific area like an adventure game instead of the turn based strategy game-play Fire Emblem is known for. I believe they did a good job with this feature as they introduced it lightly and just enough so that we could experience it, but not so much it would change the fire emblem we know and love. Dungeons also help grind experience for your units so you will be better equipped to fight future battles.

In this fire emblem game they also bring back casual mode. As any Fire Emblem fan will know regular mode is where you play the game and if one of your units die in a battle then they are permanently dead for the rest of the game. Causal mode makes it so that if a character dies in a battle you can still use that character once the battle is over they didn't "die" they just retreated. It's pretty much an easy mode for Fire Emblem games. Now many Fire Emblem purists will tell you that you have to play on regular mode in order to get the full experience and really perfect your strategy in order to not kill characters. However, I believe that if your not a great gamer or if your just getting into Fire Emblem type games then it's okay to play casual mode as long as you have fun. Later on if you want to experience a harder challenge then try out regular mode (trust me it does make your choices life and death).
